One-sided versus two-sided roll forming of never-dried softwood kraft pulp - effects on formation and strength efficiency

Z-strength has earlier been shown to increase when going from two-sided to one-sided roll forming and when improving formation through reduced headbox consistency, but the combined effect of forming method and headbox consistency has been unclear. Onesided and two-sided twin-wire roll forming of never-dried unbleached softwood kraft pulp (15-16 SR) were presently examined at two headbox consistencies (0.4 vs. 0.6%) over a wide range of jet-to-wire speed differences in a pilot machine investigation.
