Up until recently, there were no polypropylene films with the softness and surface feel of a polyethylene film. As a result, no PP film composites have been used for the backsheet of diapers, even though a soft PP film would, in fact, offer a considerably higher strength and would therefore be more suitable at handling the diaper at high strain, e.g. incontinence.
