The scorned woman just got a makeover: what hell really hath no fury like is the highly respected and heretofore resolutely discreet English actress married to the highly respected, reclusive and amazingly egocentric American novelist with whom she endured a tortured romance, marriage and divorce. OK, that's too verbose to be much of an epigram, but it's a fair description of Claire Bloom's temper in Leaving a Doll's House (Little, Brown. $23.95), her forthcoming tell-all memoir. Incendiary rancor is a pallid description of her account of her 18-year relationship with Philip Roth. Is she being fair? Neither Roth nor Bloom will talk about the book, nor will most of their friends, editors or agents. But fair or not, she puts the memorable back in memoir.
