Despite improvements in breast cancer screening and treatment, healthcare disparities remain a pressing challenge. Many people do not receive the care they need because of cultural, social and financial barriers. These barriers lead to alarmingly high breast cancer death rates in particular groups of women, including some ethnic and racial minorities and women living in poverty. But these disparities are not limited to women of color or the poor.
