WALL STREET'S WORRY

Sighs of relief have been heard on Wall Street since the Nov. 10 acquittal of two former Bear Stearns hedge-fund managers charged with defrauding investors. After all, no other major prosecutions related to the subprime-mortgage disaster are underway (though grand juries have been convened to probe AIG and the collapse of Lehman Brothers). But there's another inquiry worrying the Street: the investigation by the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, which Congress created in May to look into the causes of the catastrophe and which has subpoena power.
