INDONESIA IS NO'MUSLIM NATION'

Last week's presi-dential election highlighted just how successful Indonesia'sdecade-old transformation from authoritarian state to democracy has been. Before the Obama administration sends a congratulatory note to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyo-no, however, it might want to reconsider the language it uses: both Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Press Secretary Robert Gibbs have lately taken to pointing to the archipelago as an exemplar of Muslim democracy. The United States should know better-especially Obama, who lived there as a child.
