Easter 2009 was an important weekend for Pleasant Point Railway and Museum. It was a time when this organisation proved to itself and the rest of the heritage railway community that there is life after Thomas.rnFor a many years Pleasant Point has staged a 'Friends of Thomas the Tank Engine' weekend at Easter that was a major fundraiser for the railway, and enjoyed by hundreds of children from South Canterbury. One of the costs in staging the event was a royalty to the Thomas franchise holder, the rate of which and other conditions of using the brand were acceptable to all parties. As well as Pleasant Point Railway, other heritage railways have staged these events over the years.
