摘要

The New Zealand rail enthusiast movement lost one of its keenest members and most distinguished historians with the death in Auckland on 31 July 2012 of Kenneth Ian ("Ian") Bullock, aged 75.Ian joined the then Auckland Branch of the NZR & LS ini 954. He and the late Stephen Allen, another long term enthusiast, had both been brought up in the Bay of Plenty and had both attended Kings College, Otahuhu. As a young law student, Ian enthusiastically joined in the meetings of the then small and close-knit group of enthusiasts. As the group expanded its activities to include trips, he was always to be found not so much as a photographer but as a connoisseur of, and commentator on, locomotive performance.
