摘要

Back in 1966 there were two car yards, one on each side of the main lines, branch and running lines coming into Wellington from Kaiwharawhara. The one on the left was the East Yard and on the right was the West Yard. The East Yard was for long distance and suburban carriages, and some spare cars were kept there. Two-car electric units were held from Friday nights to Sunday mornings. The West Yard held subbie cars and units. The General Manager's and Governor General's cars were stored at the rear of West Yard, track 9, and two sleeping cars under the control of the Department of Internal Affairs were on track 8.
