(ICT) is becoming increasingly important, especially for a country like New Zealand where it offers a raft of opportunities and ways to overcome the disadvantage of distance from market. However, the rise of services (especially ICT) and the declining scarcity in manufacturing will throw up a number of curve balls when it comes to business management. One of the areas of potential change is the way staff are remunerated. Most staff are paid in relation to the hours of work they provide - either directly by being paid by the hour, or indirectly through salary arrangements which are pinned to a minimum weekly hours of work.
