USA Digital Radio, the partnership of CBS Corp. and Gannett Co., has launched the first trial balloon in the coming transition to digital radio. The Columbia, Md.-based venture in October filed a petition with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)—recently made available for public comment—seeking regulatory appfoval to introduce digital audio broadcasting using In-Band On-Channel (IBOC) technology.
