EIA: Government IT Spending Flat To 2003

Growth in federal spending on computers, software, and other information technology investments likely will be delayed until early in the next century, according to a new analysis by the Electronics Industries Alliance (EIA). The basis for this forecast, according to EIA, is the prospect that federal budget surpluses will allow Congress and federal agencies to defer tough decisions on further downsizing government agencies. Cutbacks are seen sparking additional federal spending on information technology to increase productivity.
