This section describes a specialized section or whole process of a representative factory which excels in specific aspects of production. According to the "State of Industrial Waste Discharge and Treatment" report announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare on August 2, 1996, the country's total volume of discharge of industrial wastes in FY1993 ran up to roughly 397,000,000 tons, a slight decrease compared with the volume of roughly 403,000,000 tons discharged in FY1992, but still a tremendous volume. By types, sludge accounted for the largest volume of wastes as in the preceding fiscal year, running up to 180,490,000 tons or 45.5% of the total volume of sewage sludges, and whereas the total volume of discharge of industrial wastes is decreasing, sludge registered an increase of 1.9% over the preceding fiscal year's wolume of roughly 177, 110,000 tons.
