Mayekawa Mfg. Co., Ltd. and Ebara Corp. have jointly developed a Hydrau-lically-driven Poultry Deboning Robot, combining the fruits of their research and development efforts in the field of meat processing robotics and hydraulics, offering excellent sanitation features. Through on-going development of various types of hydraulic drive mechanisms such as control valves, motors and cylinders together with perfection of a superior control technology, the two firms have successfully commercialized a hydraulic version of the YIELDAS Automatic Poultry Deboning Machine which Mayekawa currently supplies to the poultry industry. In its present form, YIELDAS is operated by electric, pneumatic and hydraulic means while the new system is fully hydraulic and makes use of faucet water as the working fluid. In the edible meat primary processing industry for poultry, hogs, cattle, etc., there is an on-going drive for ever higher levels of sanitation in compliance with HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Evaluation) stipulations. As well, there has been a mounting recognition of importance of environmental protection in recent years. For these reasons, it is vital that companies take into account environmental coordination when designing various systems. In the poultry primary processing industry, for example, the trend has been to avoid the use of working fluids which may cause pollution, fire or other damage to the natural environment.
