GENERIC TECHNOLOGY REVIEW

摘要

This section describes various basic research and development activities in Japan to inform the world about generic R&D efforts here. Plasma sprayed ceramic coatings are widely used in practical applications, such as the thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) for gas turbines, wear resistant coatings for tribological machine parts and so on. In addition, the improvement of these coatings is desirable from the ecological view point. For example, elevating the temperature limit and elongating the life of TBC can increase the efficiency and the maintenance interval of a gas turbine. The cheaper and stronger ceramic coating can replace the hard chrome wet plating. In order to make good ceramic coatings efficiently by plasma spraying, the most important point is how to heat and accelerate the raw material powders efficiently and uniformly.
