With a general election due by May at the latest, Britain's opinion pollsters will be working flat out over the coming months. But tests by New Scientist have shown that the new electronic technology used to generate phone-in polls for newspapers and TV stations is wide open to abuse from lobbyists. It is also a huge money-spinner for the pollsters.
