A crafted bit of 46,000-year-old kangaroo bone found in Australia seems designed to be worn in the nasal septum, which would make it our oldest known bone jewellery. Only Neanderthal eagle talon necklaces and bracelets are older. The finding shows that the first humans to reach the continent 50,000 years ago were as culturally advanced as their counterparts elsewhere.
