Teachers to get homework as channel nears launch

Teachers' TV, the first linear government-funded television channel, is due to launch next month across the whole range of UK digital-television platforms. The channel, aimed at 1.1 million teachers and other school workers, will broadcast 24 hours a day on digital-satellite, the cable networks of NTL and Telewest and the television-over-DSL platforms HomeChoice and KIT. It will also broadcast overnight on digital-terrestrial platform Freeview. Teachers' TV, which launches on February 8, is operated by Education Digital, a consortium of Brook Lapping Productions, ITV and the Institute of Education. Chief executive Nigel Dacre said that the channel would offer "a broad range of programming for everyone who works in schools".
