BT Vision plans to upgrade its V-Box set-top decoder to make it compatible with the pay-television services offered on the UK's digital-terrestrial platform. The company said that it would download software that would enable the box to support the Nagravision conditional-access system that is used by both TopUp TV and Setanta Sports. Downloading the Nagravision system to the V-Box will strengthen the attractiveness of the BT Vision platform - a hybrid of IPTV and digital-terrestrial television - by providing subscribers with access to additional premium channels. But industry sources suggested that BT might have other reasons, concerning compliance with European regulations, for making the move.
