The German television industry should "change from a defensive mindset" and focus on delivering a greater choice of products and services to consumers, according to News Corporation Europe chief executive and chairman James Murdoch. Speaking at the Medientage event in Munich on Wednesday, Murdoch called on the media industry to embrace new digital technologies as an opportunity for innovation and not something to be feared. Referring to the tagline of the event -"The changing world of advertising: value and effectiveness in the digital media flood" - Murdoch said that News Corp preferred to think of new technologies as a revolution rather than a flood. "A flood is something you might barely survive whereas you can lead a revolution," he said. "We should celebrate what's happening in digital media, not fear it."
