The regulatory framework devised by Austria's telecommunications regulator is emerging as the blueprint for launching mobile-television services based on the DVB-H standard. Austria, where DVB-H launched in June to coincide with'the country's co-hosting of the European football championships, is one of the few countries to have successfully deployed a commercial service using the standard. Around 5,000 handsets have so far been sold and mobile operators and the RTR regulator are encouraged by what they see as a very promising start.
