Kabel Deutschland is looking to integrate NDS's Videoguard technology into new generations of its set-top boxes, where it will sit alongside the Nagravision system from rival conditional-access provider Kudelski. According to one source familiar with the situation, the dual system was an "extra incentive" for Kudelski, the incumbent security provider, to ensure that KDG's security would not be compromised. The talks come one month after the German cable company extended its contract with Kudelski and follows a number of security breaches of the Nagravision system in the German market (NMM May 14, 2008).
