UK goes it alone with new DTT system

The UK will be the only major European country to adopt the new DVB-T2 transmission technology for digital-terrestrial television any time soon, according to a survey by a leading industry group. There is widespread interest in the new DVB-T2 transmission system, which is set to be used in the UK from the end of 2009 to enable the launch of high-definition television on Freeview. But there is unlikely to be a pan-European market for DVB-T2 for some time, which is proving a concern to manufacturers.
