Telekom Austria, the Austrian incumbent telecommunications operator, is considering the launch of a direct-to-home satellite platform to increase the reach of its IPTV pay-television service AonTV.rnAonTV, which launched in 2007, is distributed over Telekom Austria's ADSL2+ fixed-line network and is available to just over half (52%) of Austria's 3.5 million households. The service had 63,800 subscribers at the end of 2008.rnHannes Ametsreiter, chief executive of Telekom Austria's fixed-network division, told Informa Telecoms & Media that the company was looking at adding a satellite component to AonTV in 2010.rn"We are thinking about a variety of technical developments to take AonTV to the next level, andrna connection with satellite is a possibility we're look ing at," he said.
