It is not the case that CE marking of all construction products is mandatory from 1 July 2013. Only products with a harmonised standard or ETA (European Technical Approval/Assessment) can be CE marked. The most widely used construction material of all, ready-mixed concrete does not have, nor will it have to have, a harmonised standard and, therefore, cannot be CE marked. We still await the harmonised European standard for reinforcement so once again it won't be CE marked from 1 July. CE marking has, in most cases, little to do with quality. If you do want quality ready-mixed concrete we recommend purchasing from suppliers with third party accreditation such as QSRMC or BSI.
