Atemporary double deck structure running above the Hammersmith Bridge roadway in west London could allow pedestrians and motorists to cross the River Thames while vital repairs to the bridge are carried out. According to engineers backing the concept, the solution would also aid the permanent repair programme, shaving time and around ζ40M from the cost of the S141M project. It will also create a safer environment for contractors working on the repairs and be more environmentally friendly than current proposals.
