Engineers must play a part in getting to net zero emissions

The ICE's annual State of the Nation report has a reputation for providing in-depth analysis of a cross-cutting issue facing the sector. It usually sets out a call to politicians and policy makers, but this year is a little different. While the need for political and regulatory change is set out in the State of the Nation: Infrastructure and the 2050 Net-Zero Target report, it also sets out the role of civil engineers in achieving the report's aims. In addition to calling for the civil engineering industry to get behind the report, ICE vice president policy and State of the Nation steering group chair Keith Howells wants civil engineers as individuals to get behind it too.
