It's a given: Administering space and ensuring uptime gets more challenging as your storage network grows. Many tools are available to help you manage the space, but Softek Performance Tuner (SPT) is the first monitoring tool integrated into an enterprise storage resource-management suite. SPT is an add-on to Softek Storage Manager, which comprises Storage Manager Server (SMS) and Agent, Space Optimizer and the optional Chargeback module. SPT is installed with Storage Manager 2.5 and above (just buy the license) and analyzes performance metrics within your storage network to pinpoint bottlenecks and identify over/ underutilized devices. With the SMS console as your home base and agents on your monitored server and SPT, you can poll, log and report on the activity of DAS (direct-attached storage) and SAN (storage-area network) volumes mapped to any Windows or Linux server.
