You know how important it is to keep your business humming after a major system failure. Several new government regulations mandate business continuity, too, so the pressure is on. What's the best way to ensure uptime? One option is to set up multiple data centers and control traffic to them with a DNS-based GSLB (global server load balancing) device. But beware: If you configure such a device to optimize business continuity, proximity features (which are of questionable value in the first place) and load balancing will no longer work. The issues are the same for link load balancing devices, but this Workshop focuses on GSLB of Web applications across the Internet, with browser-based clients using protocols such as FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, RTSP and Windows Media. GSLB can also be used for non-Web applications, as well as for corporate intranet and extranet Web apps.
