NEC succeeded in developing a new tantalum capacitor (NEOCAPACITOR) in which the Manganese Oxide solid electrolyte of the tantalum capacitor is replaced with the functional polymer POLYPYRROLE. At present, this new tantalum capacitor is marketed and is widely used by cus- tomers for low ESR(Equivalent Series Resistance) of switch- ing power supply. As the market is demanding both low ESR and higher use temperature now, NEC has developed the NEOCAPACITOR PSL series. NEC uses, for the first time in the world. POLYVINYLENE-type functional polymer as the electrolyte. It has excellent heat resistance and has better conductivity than POLYPYRROLE.
