NEC has developed the "Virtual Channel Meory (VCM)", a memory core technology that enhances exist- ing memory architecture to realize dramatic perfor- mance increase. On personal computers, workstations and servers, VCM is expected to double graphics perfor- mance and raise system performance by up to 20/100. VCM requires no design changes in the memory input/ output architecture, chip packaging or board design, and is an extremely cost-effective solution to memory perfor- mance limitations.
