On 2 February 2021, the United Kingdom's (UK) fifth P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) - aircraft number ZP805, named 'Fulmar' - touched down at the UK Royal Air Force (RAF) base at Lossiemouth in northeast Scotland. 'Fulmar' followed the arrival of the previous four aircraft over a twelve-month period, since February 2020 when ZP801 ('Pride of Moray') became the first of the UK's planned fleet of nine P-8A MPAs - a fleet referred to by the RAF as the Poseidon Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft (MRA) Mk1 - to arrive in the UK. ZP802 'City of Elgin' followed in March 2020, and then ZP803 'Terence Bulloch DSO DFC' arrived in October 2020, before ZP804 'Spirit of Reykjavik' came in in November 2020 as aircraft number four. Initial operating capability (IOC) was achieved with the fleet in April 2020. The programme is understood to remain on track to meet its planned full operating capability (FOC) timeframe.
