It is with deepest regrets that the Society announces the death of our former President, Rear Admiral Frank Cox Jones, USN (Ret.) who passed away in Washington, D.C. on August 9, 2004. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on February 9, 1917 he began his career as a midshipman in June 1934 entering the U.S. Naval Academy at the age of 17 He graduated third in his class in 1938 with a bachelor of science degree and was a commissioned ensign in engineering and gunnery serving aboard the battleship USS Nevada until May 1940. He then reported to Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he received a master's degree in naval architecture and marine engineering in March 1943.
