As the Naval Sea Systems Command's Chief Engineer (CHENG), it is an honor to recognize the contributions the American Society of Naval Engineers has made to our Nation and the United States Navy for the past 125 years. Since the founding of our Nation, naval engineering has always been central to the effectiveness of the U.S. Navy. One of the oldest technical societies in the United States, ASNE has been a vital part of naval engineering for our Nation. In my position as CHENG, I am privileged to work on a daily basis with the most gifted and dedicated naval engineers in the world. The role ASNE plays in advancing the science and art of naval engineering is crucial.
