In this book Evan Wilson examines the events leading up to and the sinking of the schooner Pride of Baltimore in 1986. A quarter-century after the tragedy, he revisits the inquest, relying on inter views of the survivors, expertise of captains experi enced in running traditional ships for decades and testimony of experts to draw conclusions as to the cause. The author describes the scene of the knockdown in terrifying detail including the drown ings of three of the crew and the captain, Armin Elsaesser. Wilson recounts the location of each crewmember and the decisions being made as the0 foundering occurred.
