While continuing to impact expression studies, DNA microarrays are gaining credence in detecting and understanding the life cycles of economically important microbial pathogens. DNA microarrays that detect animal species in fodder and food look certain to set new standards in food safety. Reproducibility of results is improving with new reagents and hybridization methods.
