The fixation on near-term targets for reducing greenhouse-gas emissions at the climate meeting in Copenhagen has resulted in insufficient attention towards the technological means of achieving them. Let us not forget that the true objective of climate-change policy is to limit global temperature increases. To achieve that requires a revolution in energy technology and the courage to dispense with target-focused climate policies.
