Smashing data

The Large Hadron Collider has passed a key data milestone as it increases its rate of particle-smashing. On 17 June, the proton collider, located at CERN, Europe's particle-physics lab near Geneva, Switzerland, had delivered exactly one inverse femtobarn of collisions to its detectors.
