Avoid the camera

Television is how most people get their news these days: it brings remote lands closer, and provides emotionally compelling close-ups of individuals affected by world events. But it is a totally unsuitable platform for delivering complicated information or detailed discussion. My advice for scientists involved in the ethically complex field of animal research? Stay as far away from the camera as possible. I say this as a science TV presenter and former scientist.
