Omics for a green, healthy future

摘要

The International Conference on Genomics (ICG) meetings are dynamic, interactive forums for industry leaders, prominent researchers and top policy makers to meet and discuss recent advances in and applications of genomics. The eighth conference in this influential annual series, ICG-8, was held 30 October-1 November in Shenzhen, China. Co-organized by BGI and the open-access international research journal GigaScience, ICG-8 included excellent presentations on ongoing applications of emerging technologies and tools in human health and agricultural breeding. The meeting also provided an excellent platform for deep discussions on the challenges and opportunities brought by the continuing explosion of data and the open-access science movement. Huanming Yang, chairman of BGI, opened the conference with a warm welcome to the over 400 participants attending from around the globe.
