Kobe University has a proud history dating back 112 years, in which it has earned a reputation for excellence in both higher education and research. The calibre of the University's alumni is attested to by such eminent scientists as Shinya Yamanaka, awarded the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his groundbreaking work in cellular reprogramming and induced pluripotency.
