Hank Dittmar and Ptolemy Dean talk stone at the Donovan Purcell Lecture

Nearly 100 people attended this year's Donovan Purcell Lecture held earlier this month (October) at One Whitehall Place, London. The lectures started in 1974 to commemorate architect Donovan Purcell, who was the founder Chairman of the Standing Joint Committee on Natural Stone that had been set up in 1969 to provide a forum to increase the awareness of natural stone at all levels and to work for a wider knowledge of the use of stone. This year's lecture, organised by the Stone Federation and sponsored by BRE, was given by Hank Dittmar and Ptolemy Dean, who spoke about stone in the 21~(st) Century.
