Young Koreans stoutly claim that arranged marriages are old-fashioned and on the wane. Nevertheless, when unwed sons and daughters approach their late twenties, their mothers become preoccupied with matchmaking. Anthropologist Laurel Kendall describes this process in her adoptive Korean family.
