The number and rate of workplace fatalitiesrnin the United States has decreased in 2009, according to the US preliminary OHS figures.rnSome 4,340 workplace fatalities were recorded in the country in 2009, compared to 5,214 in 2008, said the US Bureau of Labor Statistics report, National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries in 2009 (preliminary results).rnThe workplace fatality rate had also reduced -from 3.3 per 100,000 in 2009, compared to 3.7 in 2008.
