Ihe profession has remained at the top of that ranking ever since. If onything, the numbers of nurses impacted by workplace violence have only worsened over time. Since 2009-2010. the healthcare and social assistance sector hos logged the highest number of serious workers compensation claims, with disproportionately high rates of homicide and other violent incidents. Set against these bleak industry figures, violence against nurses still stands out. In Victoria alone, nurse assaults increased a staggering 60% between 2015 and 2018; with increases in Queensland of 48% and 44% (n New South Wales.
