At the end of April we commemorated World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers' Memorial Day. To promote a safe and healthy workplace, and to plan and adapt to the future of work at your workplace, there are many initiatives, programs and resources available to everyone. We encourage you to take a step back from your busy working days on a regular basis and review the safety aspect of your workplace. People are the most important asset to any business. With the judging and shortlisting process about to commence for the National Safety Awards of Excellence, attention turns to the upcoming NationaL Safety Conference, part of SAFETYconnect 2019. We look forward to welcoming the safety community and encourage you to utilise the opportunity to enhance your professional development. Program details can be found later in this issue. Our feature article hears from one of the keynote speakers, Patrick Clifton, who provides insights into the world of safety and AFL as a prelude to his presentation at SAFTYconnect in August. With the national manslaughter law back on the agenda, we explore how likely it will happen.
