Green Mountain Boys Reach F-35 Milestone

The third of six F-35A Lightning IIs launched from Burlington Air National Guard Base, Vermont, for training May 6 was an important milestone in the 158th Fighter Wing's conversion to the fifth-generation fighter. Maj. Michael Cady piloted Tail 5278 -the 500th sortie for the wing known as the Green Mountain Boys. "It's special to be a part of not only this unit [but also] such a milestone as 500 sorties," he said. "I thought it was also cool that I had my dedicated crew chief, Joe, there with me launching out."
