Airmen Deploy to Assist New Afghan Operations

More than 40 members of the 123rd Airlift Wing departed Louisville, Ky., April 24 for an undisclosed air base in the Persian Gulf region, where they will fly airlift missions in support of Operation Freedoms Sentinel. Freedoms Sentinel is the follow-on mission to Operation Enduring Freedom. It focuses on training, advising and assisting Afghan security forces and on counterter-rorism operations in Afghanistan. Maj. Gen. Edward W. Tonini, the Kentucky adjutant general, thanked the deploying airmen for their continued commitment to military operations all over the world.
