Senior Airman Courtney Iannucci, an intelligence specialist with the 180th Fighter Wing, gave up all semblance of modern living to help orphans in Ghana for three weeks last year. "I traveled alone to Africa where I lived in a shack and slept on a rectangle on the ground that wasn't really foam, with a mosquito net around me to keep out the poisonous spiders," Iannucci recalled last month. "To shower, I had to walk a mile to a well to fill up a heavy bucket, and I would stand behind a brick wall and dump it on myself."
