Where does Kettler turn when it needs to infuse new talent into its leasing offices? How does Winn Management ensure its interns are serious about learning the ropes? These two companies, and many others across the country, rely on Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Graduates of its Residential Property Management program, which was approved by the university in May 1985, come fully equipped with the skills and education needed to hit the ground running. The program has been shaped and nurtured since its inception 26 years ago by Rosemary Carucci Goss, Ph.D. "[At that time] I was teaching housing at Virginia Tech-topics like the government role and consumer aspects of buying, selling and renting," recalls Goss. "I attended a housing conference in Richmond, Va. At the break, this big burly Irishman came up to me and said, 'you teach housing at Virginia Tech? We need graduates!'"
